Implementing the 2016 ELA Standards with a Science Lens

This workshop was designed to help science teachers understand how the 2016 ELA Standards could be used to build disciplinary literacy in science.

This workshop was originally designed as a 75 minute breakout session for the 2017 ASTA Conference. It was later expanded into a 2-hour workshop and also adapted for webinar delivery.

This workshop included presenting information, reading assignments, small group discussions, and facilitated discussions.

This workshop was designed to help teachers understand how the 2016 ELA Standards could be used to build disciplinary literacy in science. Participants learned how to use the Disciplinary Literacy in Science documents to support reading, writing, speaking, and listening within a science lesson.
